Mt Skene - photo dump #1

Jameson this weekend. Buckets of fun, 'twas! Every year, I look wistfully out the window (or over a fence from wherever I'm working/freezing) and think how much fun it would be to drive properly in the snow. None of this Alpine resort fee garbage, no chains or anything silly. Just honest challenging, harmless fun in the snow, kinda like driving below the tide line on the beach where the etch-a-sketch philosophy wipes clean our tracks.

Heading from Jamo to Mt Skene, into the snow on a bluebird day.

The road was awesome in the shaded sections, nice and firm, and showing signs of decent traffic.

There's still plenty of snow around...

I think we had 9 trucks in total, ranging from stockers to monster trucks.

It didn't take much to get unstuck, the vast majority being issues of clearance and wheels not touching the ground.

There as a few saddles that had some extremely soft snow, but with a bit of right boot, all the trucks made it through, unless they wandered off track/off rut and then it was a major operation to get them going again. Snatching, winching, all the fun stuff in the bright sunshine!

Atop the highest, open (well, ungated), unrestricted, gazetted road in Victoria.

How about that for a view!

The sliders had a bit of a clearance issue, and tapped on the body during corrugations, but a bit of bush style under body dampening, and we're back in the solitude!

More trucks were coming, but kinda stuck for the moment. Much like the next 30 minutes where we proceeded to bog about 6 cars in a line, all stuffing around.

Ahh, speaking of which...

It is late in the season, spring time even, so the snow was a bit grubby, but you can't have it all now can you!?

And back in downtown Jameson, there was a hot rod run, and holy, was there some nice cars....!

Righto, thats it, off to work the lot of you!
