Did Hell Ride yesterday morning, and whoever said it should be "all about the riding" needed to be along then!! There was more chops that a Jackie Chan flick, and more hooks than Rex Hunts fishing world, and then the reciprocal helmet slaps and jostling. And this was well before the sprint. Leading up the sprint, the bumping and pushing was great, with more than a few people pulling the pin and being happy to just roll in, and a few loonies determined to make it over whatever line they race for each week...! I've never seen it as I pull like an ass over the top of the hill and get swamped as the boys wind up. But thats fine, I like mountain bikes anyway, silly little tyres will cost you skin I reckon.

Roll out.

Clowning with Joel, doing the
Specialized thing. And I should say that I'm there doing the
Felt thing.

Some days you have to listen to the inner voice. Today was a day that I was very happy to listen to Joel as this was a crash in the bunch that left a few people very upset. The ride has such a hard, lawless and fearsome reputation that, of course, there are going to be crashes as every wally that wants to prove himself in the big bunch. People can't cry about it- if you don't like the bunch/attitude/pace, drop off the back. Just like we did this day, and saved ourselves some skin.

This is apparently where the cool people go. We rode past.
