4 Wheel interlude

Back in the day, I didn't mind a bit of rally. As in the 4wd kind. One of my first introductions to it was in a mates Datto 1800, which was garaged just off Church street. One arvo for whatever reason, we came to have a look, and take it for a quick blat. Things blurred a bit but I distinctly remember clearing one of those big speedhumps with the flat bit in the middle, and sliding into the driveway and back into the garage.. Funny the things that stick with you.

Anyway, that guy is back racing cars again,

and I'm heading to the only WRC stop in Australia. Sadly WRC seems to have taken a bit of a hit around the same time as the GFC, so its not quite as accessable as it once was, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get my mind blown when we see them in Coffs Harbour in a few months!

But the real point was twofold - firstly, ClimbDance, the Ari Vartanan (sp?) video from the early 80s is possibly the more raw and viscous driving flick getting around. All the skiddy kids in their drift cars aren't a patch on this guy, the raw nerve this guys displays is just awe inspiring. Got the idea!?

And secondly, the quiet Frenchman Seb Loeb has obviously got sick of winning everything in rally cars, and now is on a new mission - Pikes Peak. Google it if you don't know what that about. Anyway, Loeb as paired up with Peugeot to have a serious run at the title, and knock off Monster Tajima.

This is the car .

and this is the car making noises...

I guess we'll see what happens!
