With a shaky start to the morning, and an incredible amount of effort to drag my sorry carcass from its slumber, I man-ed up and headed out to Wandong to pre ride the marathon course that is scheduled to be run in mid March. With 90km on mountain bikes on the cards, after a large night at the
Felt Team dinner it was shaping up to be an epic, rather than a marathon...
Nonetheless, we all met up and barrelled out of the start finish oval and headed in the bush, looking down the barrel of 6 hours of riding with no extra water available. The course threw in an enormous climb at about the 20km mark, and left me feeling a touch cracked, especially when I was told we had only done 20, when felt like at least 50...! So away we went again and again, doing valuable research for the race organizers, and getting some good quality k's in the legs.
Relatively uneventful was the day, thankfully, other than my one flat as I learnt that whilst the Virtues absolutely bombs hills, sometimes its the other parts that you have to care for, so when I hit a rock particularly hard, it pierced the tire and a short pit stop saw me on my way again. I'm sure you are getting the picture with these bikes, they really do rock, making me a very happy camper! Aside from a flat, the Pirahnas are also doing a top job, shod on my lovely wheels, so no complaints there!

Rohin checking that his computer will indeed measure correctly, unfortunately it gave up the ghost later in the day...

I didn't promise Rohin I
wouldn't post this picture, but I think I'll be off his christmas card list, and onto his shit list! That said, everyone should check out S
portRecovery, where Rohin stocks all the latest and greatest Endura products- the prices are so cheap, so help a fellow rider help us all out, and purchase through his company.

Poring over the map to keep us all on track, the boys did a top job all day, even when Ivan and I wanted to go home (40km away from home, hardly a 'shortcut'...) they pushed all the right buttons and we all carried on together.

I picked up a new camelbak Havoc yesterday with a 3L water capacity, and I ran out as I rolled into the car park at the end. Whilst it may look big, its really not cumbersome, and holds all the stuff you need in a convenient manner, well worth the purchase!! Well made, well designed, light weight and tuff as all get out!!

90km, 5hours 50min, 1 flat, 1 crash (and one pant soiling near miss) 3L of water, no sunburn and great company. Nice one boys!!
And finally, I must publicly apologize to the gentleman that I sideswiped on the bike on saturday. Riding along the beach, I became distracted whilst observing some members of public, and crashed into the side of the poor guy who was riding along minding his own business. Whilst neither of us came down, there is no excuse and I apologize and hope that he reads this! Sorry mate!
