Busy weekend this one... Saturday night was the annual Felt team dinner for the riders, and this year was hosted at our place. With a menu that read like something from a fine dining establishment, Em put on a feast that was larger than our cyclist appetites could handle, with dishes like macadamia crusted chicken with magno chutney, stuffed turkey, slow roasted lamb and vegetables, crayfish, prawns, oysters, ahh the list goes on. And on. Anyway, she cooked out of her lil' skin and we tried out best to eat our way right to the end! We failed at that attempt, but a mid-meal street ride made a bit more room and we had a second crack.
A Unicycle, jump bike and a fixie, and 4 hyperactive blokes. A recipe for entertainment wouldn't you think?! Sure enough...! A few diggers on the asphalt reminded us of our abilities and how they often differ from our confidence..
And then we whiled away the evening, shootin the shit under the light and warmth our snazzy engagement present heater! (thanks everyone, again)
The Randall Invitaional (google map and GPS plot) dawned on sunday, with the number of hangovers far outweighing those without. Dusty as we all were, we made it to the meet point by 8am, and then onwards to the mystical area that King (for a day, fool for... nevermind)Randall (thats himhad stomped out.
Some people were struggling with the simple equipment, but thankfully had stickers to help them out...
Paulie rocking the blue steel, and sweet new Felt Kit, but no Virtue. He kept pinching mine whenever I laid it down, cheeky sod!
Ben did mention that 2 spare tubes was the sensible minimum, and he was more than spot on. I think we spent more time changing tubes than not.
Jack, first of 4 (or 3, I forget) changes.
Another flat.
Ooop, flat...
Wanna guess?
And there was more that I didn't shoot too...! Crazy rocky, not the place for XC race tyres, my Barracudas were perfect in my opinion- so much so, I didn't flat. But other's didn't either so who knows!
Paul just had to get to the top of the hill. And I mean top of the hill!!
A nice bit of a rise. Now we turn around and scream back down it! I'm proud to be dragging a granny gear around, and also (although not as proud) not afraid to use it! There was some pretty steep hills towards the end of the ride, and a few bottles of harden the #$^* up were mixed and consumed.
Jack got a bit hungry later in the ride. Maybe a lot hungry. BONK!
Nat kept it up all day, right up until I got the camera out. Thats Jason's ex team bike laying over there, you too could have a sensational ex team bike as well, if you want to talk to me about it! Mine is still for sale, so get in contact with me, $3000 is the going price, and check out the components on it!! Bargain!
Bellie was having a ball all day, ripping around some pretty ace trails with a good bunch of mates. Naturally you can expect to read about it over here over the coming days.
My bike was killing it all day (can't say the same about the rider) but 5 inches of travel that climbs and descends flat out, was just the ticket. No dramas here!
Rohin was on the back of a long night once again, but was right at the pointy end all day, and I'm sure you'll be able to read about it here shortly.
And on that note, thats all folks. The leftover feeding frenzy was a winner, with everyone stuff whatever they could find from last nights team dinner down their necks! Fresh out of the Engel, purfect ;) Oh, and I'm sure that SuperGrover will have something to say about the ride, so go there too whilst your wasting your day at work!
Good weekend, roll on xmas, and then down the coast for a few days! You??
