Robe to Beachport. part 2

You would be suspicious of this face wouldn't you. I checked the chocolate straight away....

Fishing. Rather, keeping tackle companies in the black. Treacherous, and without a bite... Ocean, many. Us, none.

Southern ocean spectacular.

After our first day on the sand, it would have been rude not to sample a small drop of Aidans cub scout 16 year old fine tawny port....

And then a nap...

Sun rise over the dunes.

With access all over the dunes, you really can get amongst it, and with the nature of generally sedentary 4wdrivers, you know that you are among the minority that gets up onto the dunes.

Next morning behind the dunes, we elected to install sand flags, to warn oncoming drivers on steep sand dunes. Being the resourceful type, pink knickers, conduit, fishing rods and tent poles were all employed.

Style, and Bonds to suit!

There was heaps of harmless fun to be had in here, an area that backs onto a Dune Buggy club, and is basically preserved to recreation, rather than total conservation. By having an area such as this, it works to preserve the rest of the dunes by concentrating vehicles in here. The tracks are all well marked and there isn't much sign of people deviating, and why would you??

Ready set go... This way! No, this way!!

Tyre tracks, only a high tide away from being wiped clean. Its like driving on an etch-a-sketch!

Sometimes the tracks just dead end....

And you have to get a bit creative to get out. 47 point turn here....

Stinky beach, near a very creepy town called Nora Cerina.... Weird, very weird. Think deserted asbestos houses, with nobody around but everything is manicured.

Sand dunes can be hard on vehicles, and when you have some creative electrics, sometimes they can fail. Result, no stereo, and this car was continuing on from this trip, around Australia. Which meant emergency stereo/dashboard surgery.

Some emergency gumboot repairs were effected.

And another good day was put to rest in the sand.
