How cold?

Riding to work this morning, officially the coldest day this year- when I left, it was 1 deg. With ice on my carbon bars, and my gloves and cuffs, it was official. It was painfully cold. And after a hard race last night I was in no mood or position to offer any form of enthusiastic pedalling, so it was a painful ride in the chill.

However I am experimenting with fashion faux pas, and currently contend that although warm, the ground effect windproof socks combined with Adidas booties, look horrendous and should not be worn in daylight hours in public view.

Yesterday on the singlespeed working for ORCA out at Labertouche, I discovered how hard one can actually pull on the bars, straining myself up a normally tough geared climb, and have increased the level of respect for mad mad SS riders!! Its undeniably tough, and still such good fun as its so simple and uncomplicated! Then I broke a spoke. Boo... Fortunatly it was a rear and with a disc rear brake, it wasn't an issue and still went round and round.

Anyway, for a close shave, check out Nick's blog and see how lucky people can be! Wow, in a word, and to leave you with a reminder of how unlucky people can be....

Ow.....
